Cairns Crusader and Val Schier discussing the big issues at state parliament.

In a historic day for Cairns the Queensland government hosted its first sitting at the Cairns Convention Centre. This opportunity was too good to miss as the Cairns Crusader belived his voice(opinion) should be heard, that Cairns in the true capital of North Queensland with all it's beauty compared to Mr pitt's version Townsville. At 7pm the Cairns Crusader mingled with the public for about an hour outside the Cairns convention centre due to the fact he was not allowed in to question time. View photo gallery

ARL Prime Minister’s XIII in Cairns

The Australian Rugby League Prime Minister’s XIII was in Cairns on Thursday 25th September 2008. The side held an open training session at Jones Park (Cairns District Junior Rugby League grounds), Mann Street.  The session was open to the public, so the Crusader thought he would meet some heros of the NRL.  Coaching the Prime Minister’s XIII side for the fourth consecutive year is Mal Meninga, while Parramatta’s Nathan Hindmarsh was named Captain.
The team was only in our great town for one day before departing to Port Moresby, PNG.   The team were to play the Kumuls (PNG’s national side) and more importnatly to conduct community work with AusAID aimed at promoting HIV and AIDS prevention messages.
